THERAPEUTIC EVALUATION: A clinical study was conducted on 50 cases of non specific leucorrhoea in reproductive phase and beyond. An indigenous herbomineral compound formulation containing Saraca indica as one of the ingredients was administered to all patients in the doses of 2 tablets twice a day. 45 cases were cured in 2-6 weeks of treatment.
An herbal compound preparation consisting of aqueous extracts of Ficus glomerata, Saraca indica and Woodfordia floribunda was found useful in uterine disorders.
Ayush AC-4, a composite drug containing Embelia ribes., Laccardia lacca, \reca catechu and Saraca indica in equal parts, when administered orally (Igm/ day in two divided doses) to 281 women for 15 days, starting from 4th day of menstrual cycle to 18th day, exhibited good contraceptive activity. There was no pregnancy due to drug failure after 10th cycle. No toxic symptoms or severe side effects were noticed.

A clinical trial was conducted on 20 patients of oligomenorrhoea, in which a proprietary herbal preparation, consisting S. indica as one of the ingredients, was administered in doses of 2 tsf b.d.for three months and then followed up at a regular intervals of one month. Out of 20, 4 patients conceived during study period which indicates that the preparation is beneficial in infertility and scanty menstruation.
